I love seeing my baby boy...

Today was our doctor visit to have an ultrasound and get the organs, nervous system, and everything else checked out. He measured the arm and leg to see if they were abnormally short (a sign of Down Syndrome), checked his fingers and toes (with Down Syndrome the fingers may be missing a bone or they could be short), measured his brain, checked his organs, his heart, etc. and everything looks great! He also looked at the lip for a cleft lip and the lip was normal! He said if he were to be delivered today he would weigh 1lb 7oz. It was so fun because as the doctor was doing the ultrasound, you could see Logan kicking and punching! It was funny and I could feel him and see him at the same time! What a miracle from God! So, everything with Logan looks good, but I do have an amniotic band (which I am told is rare at this stage) and the doctor said if you google it, it will scare the crap out of you.... he was right. The amniotic band is a fibrous band that runs through the amniotic sac (per my understanding) and it can be bad because limbs and other body parts can get stuck in it and not develop causing deformity or amputation of limbs. Yes, this is scary, but the good news is that mine is on the edge so the chances of Logan being affected by it are slim. Dr. Bills will check the band every visit to make sure... I am so thankful he is my doctor, for most doctors miss this, especially one like mine where the baby is not already through it. The surprise of the visit was at the beginning when he wanted to go ahead and do the 1 hour glucose tolerance test which tests for gestational diabetes (he wanted to do it early - it is usually done at 28 weeks- due to my insulin issue with my poly cystic ovaries). So, I had the lovely pleasure of drinking the orange sugar mixture before he did the ultrasound. It was not yummy at all! After the hour, they prick your finger and get a glucose reading and iron reading. My iron was great at 12.8; my glucose, however was not so great... Anything under 140 passes and mine was 142! So, I barely failed. I have to go back tomorrow morning. I have to fast and do a 3 hour glucose tolerance test and if I fail that one, then I have gestational diabetes. But, hopefully I will pass since I was so close to passing this time! It has been a crazy day: we are so incredibly blessed for Logan to be doing great! I cannot lie and say the amniotic band doesn't scare and worry me, because it does... but I know God will take care of me and Logan. And, I am least concerned about the gestational diabetes- it is common and easily treated. Now, I guess I just have to wait another long month before I can see him again!
