as I am writing this I am sitting at my desk listening to Sugarland, more specifically Jennifer singing "Shine the Light" and it is such a beautiful song.
Sugarland's Shine the Light
"When you're walking to the edge of those dark and lonely woods, And, when I ask 'How was your day' and you answer, 'Not so good' And, when nothing seems to be working out quite the way it should, I will shine the light. And when the skies up above you fill with gray and stormy clouds, and there's not a single face you know in the maddening crowd, When you know that you don't make your way, but you just can't see how, I will shine the light. I will hold you in MY arms until everything's alright, I will shine the light. When your WORRIES, they won't let you sleep, and rob you of your days. And, you've looked in all directions but you still can't find your way. When you just need someone to remind you that it's all gonna be ok... I will shine the light. When you're starring down your demons in your darkest night, I will shine the light. So when your heart is heavy like a stone from carrying its load, And you look into the mirror and see someone you don't know, when the shadows are closing in on you like a hand around your throat, I will shine the light... When you've given into your fears, when you've lost your will to fight, let ME know, let ME try to make it right, and I WILL SHINE THE LIGHT!"
Besides the fact that this is such a beautiful song, rejoice in the fact that God is there every step of the way, shinning His light, guiding us on His path He has made for us. Things have not been easy for a lot of people especially lately and it is easy to loose sight that these HARD and difficult times are given to us by His grace to show us how to live and become better people and to learn from our mistakes. Those worries that rob us of our days and sleep should be lifted up to Him because He is always with us to take our burdens ... He will shine the light on us ALWAYS. I love the last part like she is paralleling the repenting of sins or coming to know him when she says when you give into your fears or when you've lost your will to fight, I will make it right, I will shine the light. When we lead others to get saved or show them to Christ, repent of our sins, release our fears, give up our fight and put them all in the hands of God, He will make it right and He will shine His light!
Which leads me to my being thankful for His everlasting LOVE today and always...
Nov. 18... I am thankful for music. ALL kinds. Whichever moves you to celebrate the love in Him, others, and you know when you just get that song that touches you... makes you smile, dance, love life, forget everything, cry, LOVE the Lord, etc.
Nov. 19... Internet. though it has its downsides and is ALL sorts of dangerous, I LOVE being able to stay in touch with folks, go to school online where we otherwise would not be able to attend, love sending cards for free, but mostly the shared knowledge (i.e. dictionaries, journals, etc.).
Nov. 20... Missionaries. very thankful for all the missionaries at home and throughout the world. They are called to do things that I am sure is amazing and scary.
Nov. 21... Thankful for National EMT. This is a GREAT company to work for and I am hoping and praying that when William graduates and is a paramedic he will get some hours working with them.
Nov. 22... Beth Moore and Living Proof Ministries, Lifeway, etc. I love Beth Moore, her teaching style and she is such a blessing if you have never done one of her Bible studies. You can get them at Lifeway which is where her merchandise is exclusively sold (I think) unless her organization Living Proof Ministries sells some. She does so much for women around the world... God has used her in such a way that her humble little self will never know. She is one person (of many) on my list to run up and hug when I get to Heaven.
Nov. 23... My ability to learn. Often overlook this but I am so thankful that God has allowed me to be able to learn my job, teach others, hopefully raise my son (with the help of others and Him) to be an amazing little being following His Glory, learn from mine and others mistakes, etc.
Nov. 24... my calender... without it... I would be lost... and every appointment, birthday, anniversary and important event would be forgotten and bills would not be paid!
Nov. 25... The Pregnancy Crisis Center ... I had NO idea how much they did until they came to speak at our church! I am so glad they came and spoke and we were able to donate so much to them and I hope that we are able to work with them in the future. MORE importantly they witness to moms and through ultrasounds, mothers get to see that there is a baby inside them (which they obviously know when they find out they are pregnant, but if you have ever been pregnant yourself, it is SO amazing and life changing to first see that baby and its heartbeat on that screen!). Around three years ago a young woman went in with a mind to abort and saw that little baby in her and through the ultrasound, the women at that center and His amazing work Avery Marie Popham was carried to term and blessed into this world and He gracefully carried her to her parents who were anxiously awaiting her arrival. If you are like us and know that NO ONE in our family NEEDS anything for Christmas, maybe you will consider donating to this organization and help other moms and babies have the same outcome as Avery, Gina and Phillip.
Nov. 26... hot sauce. It makes every thing better! Chicken salad sammy- yes please! Tacos- Check! Anything feeling dull, just add some and happiness is just around the corner!
Nov. 27... silence. We are so fast-paced now days that it is nice to just have some silence and reflection time... daily devotional moment or that BETH MOORE homework time!
Nov. 28... VERY thankful for laughter! Isn't it good to just laugh? I mean that down-in-the-tummy laugh? So refreshing (once your ribs stop hurting!) So good to relax and cleanse and supposedly healthy too!
Nov. 29... thankful for freedom. Yes, I don't agree with everything our country is up to and issues but thankful for the freedoms we have and praying for those countries that are not as blessed and have horrid dictators.
Nov. 30... Most thankful for those who have and are serving our country. I can't imagine what it is like and hope those that are far are home soon. I love and miss you KML
