Most recent projects

*caveat...again, these are my most recent projects- pur maybe a month ago- but have not purchased anything since my Purchasing Abstinence*

Now, I must first start out by saying that these were all plain wood to begin with... I only had my small camera but you get the picture. TWO NEW THINGS... CHALK BOARD PAINT and MAGNETIC PAINT (this project to come later!)!!!!! Awesomeness!

First, we go OUTSIDE (yes, don't try and spray-paint inside like me... just NOT a good idea, trust me!) and spraypaing the plain wood pieces with the chalkboard paint. Make sure there are plenty of coverings. Then, bring back inside because all the little bugs from the outside porch light are getting stuck in it! These are pitch-black at this point... Wait until completetly dry overnight, etc. Then when dry (maybe another coat- I think mine need another coat but I was too impaitent) you have to kinda "coat" the whole piece with chalk. So take the chalk sidewase and go back and forth over the whole thing making an "X" pattern. (the spraypaint can actually has directions for this too). Then you are ready to wipe lightly with a paper towel and write whatever you please on it!

Then, take the "wood box" and tape off the parts we don't want painted. The most TEDIOUS part. Especially with little toddler trying to unpeel it the whole time!
Go outside and spraypaint with your choice of color. I chose an off-white Ivory type.
Hot glue those bad-boys on the front, peel the tape off and you are good to go!
VERY easy project. We dont have books or toys in ours, they actually are under the coffee table and house the cloth diapers and parts! LOVE it! They are FINALLY out of the way and SUPER cute! I have that picture too but will have to post it soon, on the other camera!

Then (With the same can of Ivory spray paint as all the projects above) I found this round wooden plate thing. Then after the coat of Ivory, started messily sponging a darker brown/ khaki.

Then started sanding... This is 1/2 and 1/2 ... Did you ask... What will I ever do with that cake and punch bowl set I got as a wedding present that I NEVER use? ... HMMM well I asked the same thing and kept seeing SUPER cute decoratinons on blogs with similar domes but from pottery barn or the like. WELL, I got to thinking... I will RECREATE you with MINIMAL cost. (NOW, ALL my projects will be NO cost)... So, here it is...

I like it... I think I will add more "distressing" later but I like it for now! I will add the finishing touch pic later (with the other container pics- it has some red balls and such in it)....
AND, one more project on that Hobby Lobby run... VERY DANGEROUS, that place!

With the SAME can of Ivory spray paint, I painted this wooden picture frame. (I will show you my plans for it when I complete the project... WHICH will hopefully be soon... I have to finish something first, but this shouldn't take long... maybe this weekend? OH... DREAMS!)
Then, roughly paint the darker color over and sand to liking creating the distressed look...
See the distressed? It is not for everyone, I LURVE IT!!!!! And, I think the second time I did it, it looked a little better- maybe next time, even better WHICH is good because MY GARAGE awaits A FREE and AWESOME (HOPEFULLY) PROJECT! Sorry for the picture quality... it was the little camera again.. someone was borrowing the big'n ;)

Just wanted to share my recent (and not so recent projects!)
