Sometimes, I just don't understand this world

In case you missed it yesterday, Jamie Hood opened fire killing an Athens-Clarke County policeman yesterday and leaving one still in the Hospital here. This all happened around lunchtime- locking down hospitals, schools, etc. (well not us, they don't care about us!). Anyway, apparently, he is "upset" because a few years ago the police "had" to kill his brother because of an incident and also he spent something like 12 years in jail for armed robbery for robbing someone over $3. So, this gives you a little background about how crazy/ sick this guy potentially is... This all started (from what I understand) from an attempted carjacking down the street and when the cops pulled up he started firing and the cop that died was still in the car! This upsets me so much- can you imagine how this family feels? I am praying so much for this family. It could just of easily have been me to have gotten this call- one of my nightmares, but it is true. Yes, I understand it is a little different situation, but they (firefighters) face similar situations sometimes when they approach a scene sometimes when the cops are not yet there and they still have to treat the patient and sometimes they are unaware of the situation until they get there and it is too late, they are already there and have to call the cops after they are already there. Then, you have the whole fire aspect. Anyway, I just really feel for this family... maybe it is because I can put myself in their shoes, maybe it is because I have had the nightmare too many times or maybe it is because it happened right down the street. Also, it is really hard for me, from that same perspective to want him to just be caught and put in jail and waste the taxpayer's dollars letting him live free and clear ... when he really should be shot like he killed the innocent cop and ruined his family's life leaving his wife to raise his son and daughter. I know it is probably not "right" for me to feel like that, but it is so hard to not feel that...

They still have not caught Jamie and the reward started at $5k, this morning was at $10k and just a minute ago was at $50k. That shows you how awesome this community is... you can tell there is unrest around here (there were definitely no cops on the road for speeders this morning) and last I heard there were 6-7 groups of 9-10 state patrol ACC police and surrounding counties to comb the area again (they did road blocks all night, they have people at his parents house- yes they think he is stupid enough to go back to their house, etc...)... so I am just praying they find him soon... in this day surely they will, it is hard not to be tracked either by your car, buying something, being caught on camera somewhere, etc.
