Well, Logan had gotten to the point where he was climbing out of his crib. He had started climbing out of his pack & play a while ago. He still sleeps in it at Gina's (I don't know for how much longer) but for now she has defeated his climbing out. But, he does climb out of his crib and I did not want him up at night roaming around or falling and getting hurt. I stress out about this WAY too much. Maybe it is the fact that he is upstairs? I don't know. Anyway, so my mom came down last Saturday for a church event and she bought him a big boy bed! [thanks mom]

So, we proceeded to put it together. Have you ever purchased something from Ikea and thought it was a good idea and 5 days later regretted it because you still could not figure out the "instructions"... yea that is kinda how this was. Except this was from my nemesis storeWalmart that which shall remain nameless and it took forever. And, yes, several things were wrong when we were finished. I DO NOT CARE. The bed is fine and it is great and he LOVES IT! The only thing is the side rails. They are pointless. He falls right out during the night, so I just took them off and pushed the bed against the wall (solved one of the problems) and with the other exposed sides, just used our bedrail that we had. (Kinda like this one but not)

This is his big boy bedding to go with the bed... still animal theme... we are not redoing his room until he is old enough to tell us what he wants... just not spending the money...
So, the first night was a disaster... all ready to go it was just me... daddy was at work... Logan went to sleep and I kept hearing these thuds. Well, at first I thought it was just him hitting the wall or kicking it... so periodically I would go check on him. Then at about 4am I hear this really big thud (keep in mind I hear everything through the baby monitor and ceiling)... I go up stairs to check on him and he has (I assume) kicked the bedrail off the bed and it is now on the floor and Logan is centimeters away from falling off the bed! I stay there for a second contemplating what I am going to do. My head is throbbing at this point from lack of sleep and other factors and so he wakes up and I sit him in the rocking chair. I put the mattress in the crib and rock him back to sleep and put him in the crib for the rest of the night until we can reassess the situation the next day...
Luckily the bed rail came with these straps that go under the mattress that hook on to the other side of the bed/ rail to give it extra support, etc. so that this kind of thing does not happen. Daddy fixed it and we also put some blankets under the mattress because I belive some of the thuds were the rail hitting the wood under the mattress so it has gotten some better! He likes to sleep the short way (side to side not top to bottom) so his head or feet constantly hit the wall until he gets comfy during the night so that still wakes me up but it has been 3 nights and has already gotten much better and the stress level has lessened!
