23 weeks pregnant
At 23 weeks, baby’s really getting ready for her big debut, listening in on what’s going on in the outside world. And you’re getting ready too. Just remember: While having the nursery painted and stocking it with diapers is important, there are some other pressing things you should have on your radar. Namely, financials. Around week 23 is a good time to call your and your partner’s insurance agent to check how you’re currently covered and decide what adjustments you’ll want to make for baby. You might also want to start thinking about writing a will, if you don’t have one, or updating your current one. How’s baby’s savings account going? If you’re like, “what savings account?” that’s okay. But decide whether or not you want to start one for her. One study found that kids who have their own savings account are more likely to go to college, and another one estimated the average cost of raising a baby until age 18 to be over $226,000. Whoa!
23 weeks- Liam is the size of an ear of corn or grapefruit!
I went to the doctor this morning for the 24 week appointment (I am 23 weeks and 6 days). This appointment was just to measure the belly (fundal height) and listen to his heartbeat with the doppler. I never get tired of hearing him on the doppler even though I hear him once a week. It is such a blessing. He is definitely a mover and a shaker. He is constantly flipping and moving and jumping (well probably not jumping but that is what it feels like). I think he just "moves" more so than kick/ punch. They always have to chase him with the doppler because he will not stay still. Same today- the doctor had a hard time getting a long count of his heartbeat because he kept moving (and not just a cm, but completely flipping). So, it is always interesting or funny just trying to listen to him. Anyway, he sounds great and I have to do the 1hr glucose test again next visit! YAY! I thought I was over that when I passed at my 20 week appointment but apparently they just did that one early because of the high-risk part. So, now I get to do it again at the regular time (about 28 weeks). So, I am praying I pass. I do not want to have to do the 3hr or prick my finger every day. So, until then... Liam is active and crazy and I love it! The only down side is that I am in so much pain- like nerve pinching/ bone pain. They say it is just either pinched nerves or because I have gained so much weight (literally that is pretty much how they phrased it- and with each pregnancy it will get worse). But, it is to the point where I cannot walk, sit, lay down, sleep, etc. So, I am praying that it goes away- I can deal with pretty much all the other stuff but I feel so inadequate and such not being able to do stuff around the house, go for walks/ exercise, etc. So, hopefully that will get better or go away soon. Also, my blood pressure was high this visit- they said it was probably because I was in so much pain/ nauseated but I am sure they will keep check on it a little more closely from here on out.
