My Acorn Squash is fighting me...

29 weeks pregnant

You’re probably already getting a little preview of baby’s personality, the more your feel him move. You might get some playful kicks and jabs, and start to feel little hiccups, too! At 29 weeks, he’s not just moving a lot, he’s also plumping up. And as he continues to put pressure on your digestive system, you’re going to feel the effects: hemorrhoids, heartburn, pelvic pain and frequent urination are all common at this stage in the game. Week 29 is a good time to start finalizing stuff, like stocking the nursery with baby care essentials and checking out a few potential day cares. You’ll also want to start packing a few things you know you’ll want with you at the hospital at baby’s birth. Leave it by the door, so you can add stuff you think of along the way -- and so you can grab it at a moment’s notice.
Your baby's the size of an acorn squash!
Baby already measures about 15.2 to 16.7 inches long. Right now, we weighs about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds but he's still got a ways to go -- can you believe he'll triple in weight before birth?

your baby at 29 weeks
  • He's getting a little cramped in there, since he's growing so fast. But you probably already realize that, since you're getting all those jabs and kicks.
  • He's growing white fat deposits under his skin, and his energy is surging because of it.
  • Feel a subtle twitch? It might be baby hiccupping.

This crazy baby is fighting my innards. So, I had a very bad bladder infection a few weeks ago- took Macrobid for 7 days and felt better, then it came a roarin' back. Last week, I went and they tested my urine and you guessed it, another bladder/ UTI. SO, I got Macrobid again. Well, yesterday I started feeling much worse, contractions started up again (4/hr so not the 6/hr which is apparently the "lets get alarmed" rate). I called the office today and at first, they were like well just drink more water (which I am really getting annoyed with that answer). Then, they called me and wanted to see me. The culture results from last week have not come back yet (which is a little surprising) and so we are at a waiting point for those results to go the next step. They also are doing a culture from today- all they could really tell me is, yes there are nitrates/nitrites in the urine which signal bladder/ UIT. So we wait... and while we wait, I guess I will just be in pain. It is such a weird pain- but very annoying because all I want to do is lie down so that it will relieve some pressure, but obviously cannot do that since I am at work. Also, my silly child is so low that he is literally kicking my bladder area and kicking his exit area so it just adds to the pain. And, this is why all this is a little frustrating (basically, it can lead to preterm labor, low birth weight or still born birth)... we both know what can happen from not treating this infection (which is why we are so thankful we actually went to the hospital the other day so that all this could get started with meds and whatnot or else we would most definitely be in a worse situation. So right now, I am praying for something to feel better and just praying for job- related things...

I had rescheduled my doppler appointment for Friday, but since I was in there today, they went ahead and did it... which is nice that I won't have to waste time, gas and such by going up there Friday. So, as of right now, my next appointment (unless something happens) is July 10, which will be an ultrasound!!! We are so excited about that!
