Ear infections and teething!

Well, it all started February 13, 2010 when my mom was watching Logan so that I could have a night to myself. He would not sleep for her at all! I thought it was due to him having to sleep in the pack-n-play and not his crib, etc but he fastly declined! We took him to the dr that Monday and he had his first right ear infection. They put him on amoxicillin and by the third day he seemed back to himself (after days of screaming, pulling on his ears and being up all night!). About 2 days after the antibiotics were out of his system, he started doing all the same things again (screaming, fussy, screaming during the middle of the night) so we took him back and sure enough, a double ear infection! They put him on a different antibiotic and he never really started to seem better. So, he started waking up in the night, pulling at his ears, etc. so we took him back to the doctor and his ears were clear! We were very grateful that his ears were clear and were able to stop the antibiotics (on like day 8) and they had to dig out his ears (which he does not enjoy) and the doctor looked in his mouth and sure enough, not one but TWO little white teeth trying to poke their little ridges right through the skin! The doctor said she guessed between 1-3 days they would be here! Since then, the right tooth has surfaced but the left one is not totally through yet, but I will post pics soon! Also, while we were at the doctor, he crawled across the exam table! Are you hearing this people? Yes, I said crawl! I was so excited and proud of my little man I wanted to reach for the camera then realized I had better reach for him so that I would not have to explain to the doctor why we had better call the ambulance! He had been trying so hard for a couple days and he would get his butt in the air and then go back down, then his knees and feet and butt then go back down but could not quite orchestrate the entire movement. I think it had to do with the fact that the exam paper is so slippery and thus less friction, but there he went, on his forearms and knees! I was so amazed! All of my ear pain and all went away for that moment of sheer happiness and bliss to see my miracle from God scootch and move across that table! I wish daddy would have been there to see it, but he will have his "first" time! I know he will be up and moving in no time! It has been an emotional roller coaster in our house, for Logan has been very fussy and irritable for the past month and has not slept very well. I am hoping that he will be a little better now that his teeth seem to be past the skin, well at least until the next ones come! Thank you Lord for blessing us with this little miracle and for such wonderful family and friends; especially my mom who drives down here to help me out when I am super sick and cannot see straight, his day-time mommy who loves on him and takes care of him since I cannot during the day, those wonderful women who keep him in the nursery at church, and my wonderful husband who not only has to put up with all the day to day dealings, but me as well (which, lets face it, can be a challenge some times ;) )...

  1. Such delightful firsts! I so remember those days of teething and crawling. Wait. I actually DON'T remember much... I was so sleep deprived that all I'm left with is a hazy recollection. LOL

But seriously, it really is a precious time. Your comments on my blog were also precious, and I love that you took the time to share with me. I remember wondering what the future held for my little bundle too- My JJ had just been born shortly before 9-11, and I remember being so afraid. I'm so glad God is so good and we can count on that regardless of what our future holds!

    Blessings sweetie,
    Sasha

  3. I was posting my assignment to the Beth Moore blog last week and just happened to see that you are a fellow Siesta! That is so cool. I was like "Wait a second, she follows my blog!" I'm always encouraged when I find other believing mammas on the web! Hope you have a great day!

  4. Awww... I remember the days! Treasure them, because they go by so fast!!! Who could explain the love you can have fun such a small bundle, huh? And who, but God, equips us with such love!

Thanks for stopping by my place and for taking the time to comment. I commented back there. I'd post it again here, but then I'd be taking up half you page. :)

  6. Thank you so much for your sweet note on my blog in response to my prayer plea on the LPM blog! Your little miracle is precious! I'm a labor and delivery nurse so my mouth was dropping when reading your pregnancy story in your profile- bless you! We didn't get the news we hoped for today but I know that this journey is all about God's timing and His glory. I'll look forward to keeping up with you and your sweet family!
