Entering the world of cloth diapers!!!!!

Well, after meeting (long overdue!) and eating lunch with a fabulous sister Stacie, William and I have been talking about cloth diapers. First, I will say we used to laugh at people who used cloth diapers. (Yes, God has a sense of humor and I am sorry/ ashamed we were so judgmental!) Stacie has 2 girls but her youngest is around Logan's age. She has been using BumGenius cloth diapers (and, I must say, technology has come a LONG way since the folding diapers with pins and such! These look and work just like regular diapers). Well, anyway, we got to talking about them and how much money you save and how you can use them for future kids, etc. So, we started doing research. I went to a specialty baby store down the street from work and picked up one so we could look at one and see how they worked, etc. They are amazing! (well, after we figured them out!)... Stacie was amazing and made some videos http://www.rowdyrowleys.blogspot.com/ of how they work, washing off the poo and laundry days so that I could get a better grasp and I am so excited!!! We are starting now with these (they should come in tomorrow) and with the purchase of 25 diapers, the diaper pail, 2 liners, and the sprayer the initial investment is a bit costly (but will pay for itself in about 4-5 months) with the way we were buying diapers, by the time he is potty trained minus the investment of the cloth diapers, minus the minimal difference in water bill and small amount of diapers to purchase for the baby sitter/just in case our savings starting now is around $1200- $1300... and that is just for Logan! If we have any more children, the savings will be even more, for we won't have to buy anything! Of course, there is also the savings of not having to buy the diaper genie inserts too (those are about $6 a piece and last about 1-2 weeks). Another positive to the switch is the minimal waste (for all the tree-huggers out there)! We are still using wipes but there is a ton less waste and junk for the land fills and a ton fewer chemicals for your baby's bottom! (Honestly, it is about saving all the money for us, but those are added benefits!)... So, that is what is newest in our lives... I will let yall know how it is going...
